Advocacy Rooted in Community

At The Village Family Services, advocacy begins with listening. We believe the people most impacted by systems should help shape them. Our work is grounded in partnership, lived experience, and a shared commitment to equity and belonging.

We center the voices of youth, families, and community members—uplifting their stories, leadership, and ideas to inform policies and practices that affect their lives. What we learn through our programs becomes action, helping improve access to mental health care, strengthen child and family well-being, and remove barriers to opportunity.

Our advocacy takes place where decisions are made. We visit the Capitol, meet directly with elected officials and policymakers, and lead and participate in local and statewide coalitions. By bringing community-informed solutions into these spaces, we help ensure policies are shaped by real experiences and reflect the needs of the families we serve.

At The Village, advocacy is about standing with our community and working alongside families and youth to build systems that reflect their strengths, needs, and hopes for the future.Â
