The Village Family Services is excited to welcome Cesar Guijarro to our Drop-In Center team. As an Associate Mental Health Therapist, Cesar joined us in May 2024 and has already made a significant impact in supporting transitional-age youth (16-24) experiencing homelessness.
“It’s important for our youth to know that we’re always going to be here, and they can get what they need here,” says Cesar, who brings both professional expertise and personal passion to his role. His own positive experiences with therapy inspired him to become a mental health professional and support others on their healing journeys.
At the Drop-In Center, Cesar provides crucial mental health services, from regular check-ins to crisis intervention. He’s found that many clients who initially come in for basic needs end up seeking consistent weekly therapy sessions, demonstrating the vital importance of accessible mental health care.
Cesar takes a holistic approach to supporting youth, understanding that mental health intersects with other crucial needs like housing, employment, and substance use recovery. When clients come in seeking specific services, he helps connect them to The Village’s comprehensive support network – from housing assistance and job interview preparation to resume writing and professional clothing.
“While someone might come in primarily looking for housing, we can help them connect with a therapist or peer advocate to help with job applications too,” Cesar explains. He emphasizes how The Village’s integrated services model allows staff to address multiple needs simultaneously. In fact, in our last fiscal year, our clients had an average of 44 separate encounters with staff!
Working alongside dedicated colleagues and with support from great supervision, Cesar feels confident in his ability to serve our community’s youth. His commitment to going above and beyond reflects The Village’s mission to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to young people in need.
Welcome to The Village Family Services, Cesar!
